Home Seller Checklist

If you’re getting ready to sell your home, there are a few things you need to do to ensure that your home sells in a timely manner and for a great price. The biggest thing that you need to work on is your home’s appearance and functionality. Think like a buyer, what would turn you off to a sale? Would you want to buy a house that has plumbing issues? Probably not. Make sure to fix anything that could send a buyer running the other way. Here’s a checklist of things that you need to repair and/or update before you try to sell your home:

Outside your home

  • Cut the grass
  • Water the lawn and plants
  • Clean up any fallen leaves or other debris
  • Add potted plants near the entrance
  • Shovel snow and clear walk ways (if applicable)
  • Repaint/replace any outside trim or siding that looks old or worn

Inside your home

  • Clean carpets and hardwood floors
  • Clean furniture
  • If needed, repaint walls and ceilings
  • The kitchen and bathrooms should be spotless
  • Reduce clutter
  • Update/fix any non-working home systems (plumbing, electric, heating/cooling)
  • Remove pets
