Creative Storage Solutions For Small Spaces – Do you live in a lovely place with little to no storage space? Are you tired of cramming bathroom towels into a tiny cupboard or storing your extra pots and pans in your oven? Being able to think creatively about spaces for extra storage can help maximize your storage potential in addition to alleviating your frustrations.

Wall Strips

Some spaces you may not have found useful in your home are those tiny strips of wall that are too tiny for art or photographs. You can often find these above or alongside sinks in your bathroom and kitchen. Install a couple of floating shelves in those small spaces to un-clutter your countertops. Then put your toothbrush or dish soap on the shelving to give you a couple more inches for your primping or cooking. Ikea has amazing floating shelves with many styles and lengths that may work for your smaller wall spaces.

Vertical Space

Another alternative for storing goods is to stop looking around and begin looking above. Vertical space is a prime area for storage solutions that you may have not thought about before. Dishes and appliances frequently used for special occasions might fit nicely on top of your kitchen cabinets. Also, installing a pot rack is always a no-brainer, storage saver solution. You can even mount pegs on your wall to store foldable chairs to have them on hand for additional guests in your dining area or living room.

Cabinets & Closets

You might already have a few storage spaces located under sinks or inside closets that you are not using to their full potential. Place baskets on the back of cabinet doors to add a couple of extra inches of space for cleaners and sponges . Also you should install shelves under the sink to take full advantage of all the space, not just the space on the ground. Add a shoe rack to your closet door to open up floor space.  Hooks that are on the walls under your clothing rack can be used to hold for purses, totes, and briefcases.  And the low shelves on the floor can be used for knick-knacks and other storage needs.

Smart Furniture & Creative Decor

Your bedroom can definitely be a frustrating place to store items because of the amount of storage it actually requires such as space for clothing, shoes, jewelry and accessories, linens, etc. Purchase some framed corkboard to hang from your walls, and artfully hang your jewelry to make room on your dresser for other needs. Buy some under the bed drawers for additional blankets and pillows. Rather than having a table nightstand, purchase one with shelving to add some additional room.

For creative storage solutions, walk through your home with a new perspective on space. Seek out square footage that you would not typically think of such as space under your couch, high on your walls, your ceilings, and take advantage of space you find. With a few pieces of hardware and a little imagination, you can definitely transform your home into a more organized place.
